ABIODUN LAUDS CORPS MEMBERS ON FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has attributed the tremendous feats recorded in combatting COVID-19 pandemic in the State to the contribution of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the provision of massive production of hand sanitizers, face masks, hand washing liquid soaps through vocational skills acquired.

Abiodun stated this in Abeokuta at the Passing out Parade of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) 2022 Batch A, saying the scheme remains a viable and potent instrument for development.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde, the Governor explained that development could only be sustained if the youths, who are the leaders of tomorrow, get involved and believe in the process of governance, urging them to internalise the values imbibed during the Service Year.

"I enjoin you to put into effect those skills you have acquired and forge ahead to build a stable and prosperous society of your dreams, by establishing your entrepreneurship skills and using the experiences gained in your future endeavours", Abiodun said.

He appreciated NYSC for embarking on vigorous awareness campaigns across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State to stem down the spread of the virus, particularly the Corps Medical Personnel who took the risk as front liners.

In her welcome address, the Ogun State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Belinda Faniyi lauded the State government for its support, saying ‘’for the ceremony to take place is a pointer to the fact that the nation has fought a good fight against the COVID-19 pandemic’’.

A total of 2,435 corps members successfully passed out from the scheme, while 29 corps members who absconded from the service would repeat the service year.
