In its determination to capture 10,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Ogun State Government says it will upscale entrepreneurs involved in five specialised areas which include, Information and Communication Technology, Agro-processing, Non-metallic and Basic Mineral, Fashion and Textiles, as well as Beauty Care.
Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe who made this known in Akute during the second edition of MSMEs Business Clinic for the Isheri/Akute Zone, said it was committed to helping intending entrepreneurs and small business owners as well.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola, the Commissioner added that the present administration was addressing challenges confronting MSMEs to aid their growth, through the Business Clinic and other related programmes, in order to contribute to the economic development of the State.
"These Business Clinics are to sensitise and expose entrepreneurs to the immense opportunities available for starting and scaling up their businesses. Our goal is to help MSMEs thrive and have a fair play in the market", Longe said.
In his welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Remi Ogunmefun said the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration had organised the Clinic across five zones within the State to assist entrepreneurs access capital, improve on market access and grow their businesses.
In his goodwill message, the General Manager, Ogun State Agricultural and Multipurpose Credit Agency, Mr. Olugbenga Abolaji-Israel called on participants who were yet to start their business to identify and tap the opportunities around them.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Miss. Oluwatosin Abiade and Mr. Adeyemi Ogunsanya lauded the State government for organising the Clinic, affirming that it had linked them with various development partners and provided support for their businesses.
