OGUN TESCOM STEPS UP EFFORT TO REMOVE ADMINISTRATIVE BOTTLENECKS

 


In its efforts to remove administrative bottlenecks, the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has concluded arrangements to ensure that its teaching workforce work in line with the advancement in digital technology.


Ifede stated in Abeokuta, during a stakeholders’ meeting with the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU).


The TESCOM boss noted that posting of teachers and administrative staff, submission of the monthly report, as well as applications for leave, among others would soon be digitalised, adding that the step would reduce interface in carrying out administrative activities.   


"The world is evolving, this is why it is imperative for teaching and non-teaching staff to be computer literate and to achieve this, it is vital to regularly organise computer training programmes for teaching and non-teaching staff to acquaint them on the rudiments of digital knowledge", Ifede said.


The Chairman revealed that the next elevation of teachers to the position of principal and vice-principal would be done through Computer Based Test (CBT) examination and oral interviews to evaluate their performances.


Speaking earlier, Commissioners 1 and 3, Honourables Adeola Akintonde and Olanrenwaju Majekodunmi, said the present government had put in place various innovations in school administration and curriculum, to consolidate educational transformation across the State.


On his part, the Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission, Dr.  Abdulwaheed Olanloye advised the Union leaders to enlighten school authorities on accurate and honest reports of their staff return, saying it would enable the Commission to have updated data of schools.


Olanloye urged the staff to be diligent in the discharge of their duties, as it would improve the impartation of knowledge to students.


Responding, the leaders of ANCOPSS and ASUSS, Comrade Akeem Lasisi, and Dr. Ayodele Womiloju respectively, lauded the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration for its benevolence towards teachers’ welfare, especially the recent release of teachers’ promotion letters.
