The President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammad Buhari has assured the people of Ogun State that some of the Federal roads in the State including Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta and Sango-Ota-Idiroko roads will get government’s attention as soon as possible, describing the State as most peaceful in the country.
President Buhari gave the assurance at the Gateway City Gate, Sagamu Interchange, at a meeting with stakeholders during a day official visit to the State, saying the Sagamu-Ogijo road would also be considered for reconstruction by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) under the Tax Credit Scheme.
The President who inaugurated some landmark projects which include, New Kobape Housing Estate, first phase of Kings Court Estate, 42km Sagamu Interchange-Abeokuta and 14km Ijebu-Ode-Epe roads, Prince Court Housing Estate, and Gateway City Gate, Sagamu Interchange, noted that they were for wellness and well being of the people, enjoining the residents of the State to continue to support the Governor, so as to deliver more developmental projects for the benefit of all.
“I am particularly impressed by the quality and standard of your road projects and the creative way you have deployed resources to reconstruct and rehabilitate them. It is significance to note that the two road projects been commissioned today are Federal roads, this is an example of constructive engagement, cooperation and collaboration between the State and the Federal Government”, he said.
In his welcome address, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, commended the President Muhammadu Buhari led government for the unflinching support received by the State, adding that his administration has been fulfilling the promises to the people through ‘Building Our Future Together’ mantra, with fairness, equity, and justice.
Delivering his stewardship in the last three years, Governor Abiodun posited that Ijebu-Ode, Epe road would boost socio-economic development in the State and the nation at large, as well as create massive employment opportunity, adding that it had generated N100 billion in year 2021.
He appreciated the Federal Government for its backing which made Ogun the leading State in mass vaccination against COVID-19 pandemic in the country, promising to make it rank the best in all sectors of the economy.
In his goodwill message, the Akarigbo and Paramount ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi lauded the President for visiting the State, describing the transformational projects as unprecedented, saying he was looking forward to seeing the President when the Agro-Cargo Airport at Illisan-Remo would be commissioned.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were, Governors of Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Yobe and Osun, traditional rulers, past military and civilian governors, senators, former deputy governors and other top government officials.
