The Ogun State Government has lauded the intervention of Old Students’ Association in their support for the Public-Private Partnership initiative of the government, particularly in the educational development of the State.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu gave the commendation in Sagamu, during the commissioning of a 12.5KVA solar-powered street lights with CCTV cameras worth N25m donated by the 1972-1976 Remo Divisional High School Old Students’ Association (RDHS).
Arigbabu pointed out that the projects would boost security, monitoring and easy movement within the school, noting that the contribution of Old Students’ Association would help in improving standard of schools.
“This is a laudable project that will help immensely with security and monitoring of movements of learners and visitors. I applaud the donating set for this great initiative and I want to encourage others to emulate this by supporting government with projects that will bring development to their alma mater”, he said.
The Commissioner stated that the State government was determined to make all its schools a reference point, by rebuilding and revitalising the education system, through adequate funding and workable measures, affirming that it would continue to support contributions that would reposition the sector.
In his remarks, the President, 1972-1976 set of the Association, Mr. Abiodun Adesanya revealed that the eight CCTV cameras and 22 street lights have been placed strategically around the school to enhance the security coverage, saying the facilities would safeguard lives and curb vandalisation of school properties.
Adesanya encouraged other sets to undertake meaningful and impactful projects which would elevate standard of the school.
In her response, the Principal of the Senior School, Mrs. Salewa Ogunbomehin appreciated the set for the passion and love aimed at uplifting their alma mater, assuring that the school would ensure proper maintenance of the projects.
