As yuletide approaches, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on the residents to celebrate Christmas with moderation and extend hands of fellowship to the vulnerable in the society.
Abiodun made the call at the 2021 Christmas Carol and Service of Nine Lessons, held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, noting that though the season is synonymous with joy, hence people should refrain from excessive behaviours.
"This is a season to be grateful to God for sparing our lives. We should count ourselves lucky to be alive and thankful to God. Please celebrate with care and share with the less privileged’’, the Governor said.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to deliver more dividends of democracy through transformational projects like roads, security, transportation, health, among others, promising to turn around the fortune of the State for good.
Prince Abiodun added that the government would continue to provide affordable houses, quality health care services and conducive business environment for more investment opportunities, saying the Gateway City Gate at Sagamu Interchange, which would serve as icon that represents the State has been completed and ready for commissioning alongside other legacy projects.
The State helmsman, revealed that the rate of COVID-19 was on the rise, appealing to those who are yet to take the vaccine to do so, while the people should continue to observed the safety protocols by wearing face masks, ensure frequent handwashing and avoid crowded places.
Earlier in his sermon titled; ‘Emmanuel’, the General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who took his text from Matthew 1:18-23 said the country would overcome it present challenges since God is in control.
