The Ogun State Government says it will not relent in relating with industries and other stakeholders, to reform technical education curriculum and ensure technicians’ competence in line with the global best practices.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa disclosed this in Abeokuta, during a chat with OGIS correspondent, noting that government would ensure that learners are trained to meet up with the needs of the labour market, in order to solve unemployment issues in the nation.
He added that technicians are important in the society, urging people to stop seeing them as having lower intelligence, saying “there can not be life without technicians who are key members of the engineering family’’.
The Special Adviser opined that literacy and numeracy without corresponding technical and vocational education could lead to joblessness in the modern age.
