The Ogun State Government says decentralisation of its payment platforms across Ministries, Departments and Agencies is to enhance the ease of doing business, ensure transparency and efficiency.
Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo stated this in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, at a meeting with representatives of Digital Payment Platforms Providers, noting that the technological innovation has helped in boosting the Internally Generated Revenue of the State.
“The application of technology solution is not only for process efficiency, but to make it easy for people to interact seamlessly with us, so that they can feel comfortable to pay us money from their comfort zones. That is one of the reasons we decentralised our payment channels, from just being paid through bank branches in the past to other multiple channels, such as online planforms, Point of Service, among others.
“We have also introduced micro collections through scratch cards and other means. But with the decentralisation, which is still on-going, we believe the full implementation will further bring about ease of collections”, Okubadejo said.
Speaking on behalf of the Digital Payment Platforms Providers, the representative of Xpress Payments, Mrs. Olatope Ayinde expressed delight at the interaction, promising that they would continue to partner with Government in all developmental initiatives.
