OGUN PARTNERS TEACH FOR NIGERIA ON TRAINING OF TEACHERS

 


          Towards revitalising effective teaching technique and teachers’ proficiency in the class rooms, the Ogun State government has collaborated with the Teach for Nigeria and ProFuturo to train teachers under the OgunTeach programme on the basic rudiment of teaching methodology needed to sustain the standard of education.


          Declaring open the Workshop with the theme, “Pedagogical Digital Skills” in Abeokuta, the Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), Chief Femi Majekodunmi, represented by the Director of Quality Assurance, Mrs. Kehinde Anifowose said the training became imperative to integrate the new set of intended classroom teachers to the basic knowledge, skills and values of teaching.


          He maintained that teaching is a highly rated profession and practitioners should be equipped strategically, urging intending teachers to always have it at the back of their mind that the profession is not for the lazy ones.


          The SUBEB boss underscored the essence of the training which covers the basic digital skills and effective lesson plan, to achieve efficient classroom management skills of learning and child development, ethics and values, as well as language and reading.


          In her remarks, the Project Manager, Mrs. Tope Akintunde stated that the innovative training programme is aimed at positioning teachers as classroom leaders, enhancing their pedagogical and structured curriculum which provides them with teaching tools and peer to peer support.


          Speaking on behalf of other participants, Mrs. Akinboro Motunrayo and Mr. Akinde Monday respectively, appreciated the government for the training exercise which would enrich and equip them for the task ahead, urging their colleagues to utilise the acquired skills in their respective schools.
