The Ogun State Government in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund,(UNFPA) has gathered its Implementing partners in Ijebu Ode for the fourth quarter Coordination and Data Review Meeting for year 2021 towards charting a roadmap for more people-centric activities in the upcoming year.
The Quarterly Review Meeting which requires its Implementing Partners(IP),and the Sub Implementing Partners from the Ministry’s of Budget and Planning,Health,Women Affairs and Social Development and the Ogun State Primary HealthCare Development Board to meet ,deliberate and come up with proactive interventions that could help address the challenges faced in the year under review, its mitigation effort ,success stories as well as a the future recommendations for the incoming year.
Declaring open the quarterly review meeting ,Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan ,who acknowledged the contributions of the line Ministries and the global development partner, as it complements the building our future together agenda of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led adminstration in the state, calling on the Sub-implementing partners to come up with an wholistic approach that would further impact the living conditions of people ,irrespective of the challenges faced in the outgoing year.
The Commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry,Mrs .Olufunmilayo Dada who joined virtually online tasked the IPs on the need to have a time frame for the effective implementation of the planned activities for the upcoming year.
“I want to appreciate our amiable development partners,UNFPA and particularly our respective Implementing Partners and Sub-Implementing for the smooth take-off of the year 2021 activities,as well as it’s subsequent implementation across the state”
“I call on you all as officials of government supporting the drive of the present adminstration and the UNFPA towards creating an atmosphere of quality living and enhanced livelihood for the people of the state to engage yourself intellectually and come up with viable suggestions and solutions that would have its toll on the people of the state in general “he maintained.
Speaking at the programme,the UNFPA Programme Director for the state ,Mrs. Oyinlola Oyenuga admonished Sub-IPs to improve on the quality of implementation of activities and should ensure that the principle of accountability and transparency is enshrined in their modalities project implementation
In their separate submissions at the event, the Gender Desk Officer from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs.Jumoke Sokunbi noted that the Ministry in the year under review had intensified efforts on creating awareness on the implication of Gender-Based Violence and its other societal issues ,Establishment of Sexual Refferal Center in Sagamu and a Gender Based Response team in the three Senatorial Divisions of the state among many others.
In his take, the Reproductive Health Logistic Officer ,Ogun State Primary Healthcare Development Board,Dr. Olawale Onipede noted that the agency was able to develop a State-owned Google form to extract information on Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response(MPDSR) during Supportive Supervising Visits(SSV),while it embarked on the inclusion of low-dose aspirin into Ante-Natal Care (ANC)routine drugs across facilities in the state 9 tertiary,Secondary and Primary health facilities, as well as it embarked on the Procurement and Distribution of Tri-cycle Ambulances to health facilities across all the local councils in the state, among many others.
Adding his voice also at the meeting, Deputy Director,Logistic Coordinating Unit in the Ministry of Health ,Pharm.Olalekan Olarinde disclosed that the Unit was able to achieve a 99 percent reporting rate of ensuring security of Health commodities,prevent expiry and stock-out of Health commodities which resulted in improved health outcome for the people of the states.
Pharmacist Olarinde,who also added that the achievements recorded by the Ministry in the year under review had made the State government to being adjudged the 3rd position in the annual Malaria Commodities Logistic Systems (MCLS) held in Nasarawa State for the innumerable strides towards the healthy living of the people of the state.
