OGUN COMMITTED TO BUILDING A MORE VIBRANT MSMEs SUB-SECTOR- COMMISSIONER



          Committed to enhance the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sub-sector, the Ogun State Government has intensified effort to make it more vibrant for economic growth.


          Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe said this during the second edition of the State MSMEs Business Clinic held in Sagamu, emphasised the need to revamp the sub-sector for optimal benefit of entrepreneurs.


          Longe pointed out that the programme would aid entrepreneurs in acquiring relevant skills, facilitate access to funding and help them get on the spot assessment from regulatory agencies.


          "We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure we reposition our MSMEs sub-sector to serve the key purposes of our economy", the Commissioner said.


          In his welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Remi Ogunmefun stated that the initiative would help the participants exploit the potentials of entrepreneurship to their advantage, adding that 10,000 MSMEs would be created in the State through the Clinics.


The Clinic will assist many businesses currently running informally to become formal, create more access to funds, as well as facilitate required trainings and certifications for businesses’’, Ogunmefun added.


          In a goodwill message, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo lauded the State government’s effort for organising the Clinic, calling for more of such programmes to build capacity of entrepreneurs and facilitate access to funding for small businesses.


          Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola assured the participants that the agency would continue to follow-up on businesses that benefit from the Clinic, urging them to reach out to the Ministry on areas that the government could help their businesses to grow.


Speaking on behalf of other participants, Mrs. Omoyele Abiodun and Omolara Sode commended the State government for holding the Clinic in Sagamu adding that the programme has exposed them to various opportunities which would aid the growth of their businesses.


          The next edition of the Business Clinic is scheduled to hold in Ota zone, at the Green Gold Event Hall, Akute on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, and it will be the turn of Ado-Odo/Ota zone on Thursday, January 20, 2022.
