To commemorate the second anniversary of the Appeal Court verdict upholding the March 9, 2019 election of Governor Dapo Abiodun, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has urged members to observe thanksgiving in their respective places of worship tomorrow (Sunday)  because “to God belongs all the glory”.

In a press statement issued in Abeokuta on Saturday and signed by the State Publicity Secretary,  Tunde Oladunjoye,  on the eve of the second anniversary of the judicial victory, the party said the victory of the Governor at the Appeal Court was a “vindication that the voice of the people is the voice of God”.

Oladunjoye quoted  the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, as having remarked that the victory was yet another opportunity for God to show that He indeed is greater than man: “God has continued to remain God; this mandate is a divine mandate and I believe that is obvious to all.”

It would be recalled that in  a unanimous decision, the Appeal Court  threw out the appeal by Hon. Adekunle Akinlade and his party, the Allied People’s Movement (APM), saying it  “lacks merit and it is therefore struck out.” Reading the lead judgment, Justice Muhammed Danjuma, declared that the 10 grounds filed by Akinlade and his party challenging Abiodun’s victory had no merit: “The respective objections raised by the two respondents are overruled and the motions have no remit, answers to them are sustained and the two motions are dismissed,” Justice Danjuma said.

Two years after the verdict, Prince Dapo Abiodun has proven to be a promise keeping Governor, as he continues to deliver the dividends of democracy to the good people of Ogun State with the Administration’s  five cardinal  pillars of ISEYA (Infrastructure—Social Welfare and Well-being—Education—Youth development—Agriculture and food security).

Despite the shenanigans of political rebels and serial losers,  Prince Dapo Abiodun continues to practice policy of  “inclusiveness” that has attracted juggernauts from other political parties, extinguished political heat from the State’s polity and truly proven the well known Yoruba adage of Omo Oba kii jagun bi eru (A Prince does not wage war like a slave). 

The party commended the Governor for the distribution of developmental projects across the state and urged him to continue to remain focused in his determination to leave “our dear state far better than he met it”.
