JAPANESE FIRM SUPPORTS OGUN WITH EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS, OTHERS

 


          A Japanese Company, Kawasho Foods in conjunction with Jfe-Shoji Corporations, has donated 450 furniture, 11,000 exercise books, and food items to 10 Public Primary Schools in Ogun State.


          Receiving the materials in Abeokuta, the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, appreciated the company for donating the items, saying the yearly gesture would make learning more convenient for the pupils and encourage them to improve on their academic performances.


          Dr. Majekodunmi, represented by Permanent Member 1, Barr. Femi Odufowokan, called on individuals and organisations to join hands with the State government in supporting the education sector.


          ‘’The donated furniture will improve learners’ sitting convenience, while the exercise books will serve as writing materials for learners' and improve their academic performances. Also, the Geisha products will serve as supplement to improve learners' diet which will aid their physical development and promote healthy living.


          ‘’I therefore salute Kawasho Foods Trade and Jfe-Shoji Corporations, Japan, especially with the Geisha trademark. The Donors' passion for the personal well-being and comfort of school children makes today's donation the fifth of its kind by the Corporation and I urge you to continue with the gesture even as I assure you that your efforts would continue to be appreciated by God and humanity’’, he said.


          In his address, the SUBEB Secretary, Mr. Wasiu Kuye, lauded the effort of the Corporations, noting that it would boost learning activities of the benefited schools and promote academic excellence of students.


          Kuye called on individuals and organisations to partner with the State government in providing interventions in the area of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities, saying it is critical to human survival in the 21st century.


          Speaking, the representative of Kawasho Foods Corporation, Mr. Henry Agboyifo appreciated the people of Nigeria for continued patronage of their products, pledging to sustain its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative in schools.


          Responding on behalf of other benefited schools, the Headmistress of Baptist Primary School II, Ijebu-Ife, Mrs. Comfort Adebowale said the facilities and materials provided by the Corporations would be used judiciously and safeguarded from vandalism, so as to motivate the donors to do more.


          The schools that will benefit from the company’s gesture include, Obafemi Owode Local Government Primary School, Egbeda-Oba; African Church Primary School, Ayede, Ifo; Yewa South Local Government Primary School II Modeolu, Ilaro; Baptist Day School II, Imeko; Saint James's Anglican School I, Atikori, Ijebu-Igbo; and Ogun Osun River Basin Development Authority Primary School, Odeda.


           Others are Saint James's United Primary School, Mobalufon; Saint Peter's Anglican Primary School, Isara Remo, Baptist Primary School II, Ijebu-Ife and Saint Paul's African Church Primary School I, Ayetoro.
