Don't lose hope, be prayerful, Abiodun urges Nigerians at Xmas

Nigerians have been called upon not to lose hope but be prayerful as the current challenges facing the nation would soon be a thing of the past.

The Ogun state governor,  Dapo Abiodun made the call in his Christmas message at a church service held at the St. James' Anglican Church, Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area, on Saturday.

He noted that the country's present challenges were surmountable, but only needed the prayers of the citizens.

"God has kept us alive despite the ragging COVID-19 pandemic. We should continue to celebrate and be thankful despite our challenges. It will make us resolve to press forward in the new year.

"Please let us be prayerful; all hope is not lost. Yes, the country is going through challenges in the areas of kidnapping, banditry, terrorism and the likes. With God nothing shall be impossible.

"Don't allow Christmas to end today, tomorrow or next week. Keep spreading the message of peace and goodwill to all men. Extend hands of fellowship to others and let them feel the joy of the season", he said.

While wishing the people of Ogun  a merry Christmas, Abiodun urged them to celebrate with moderation and not lose sight of the essence of the season.

According to the governor, Christ came to guide and redirect mankind in a time of hopelessness, hence the need to celebrate him.

He said his administration has carried out renovation works in educational and health facilities, while affordable houses have been provided in Abeokuta, Ilaro, Ijebu-Ode, Iperu and other major towns in the state.

He further reiterated the resolve of his administration to continue to fulfill its electoral promises.

In his sermon titled, 'Peace unto the World', Venerable Shedrach     Ajileye, noted that Jesus Christ came to the world to restore and deliver man from the path of darkness and give him assurance of eternal life.

The cleric who took his text from Isaiah 9:6, urged Nigerians not lose hope as God was about to do new things in the country, calling on them celebrate with moderation and allow the birth of Jesus to make meaning in their lives.

He, therefore, called on the governor to  redouble his efforts in serving the people by replicating Chief Obafemi Awolowo's legacies in the areas of education and other infrastructural development, saying the governor's performance would speak for him at the end of his tenure.
