The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has rated Ogun State as overall best among the top five performing States in Nigeria in the ongoing Mass Vaccination Campaign.
The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun made this known in Abeokuta during the presentation of the Appropriation Bill for Year 2022 before members of the State House of Assembly, saying his administration would not relent in its efforts at ensuring the complete wellbeing of residents.
"The NPHCDA has announced that we are the top performing State on Mass Vaccination and ranked first position in the country", he said.
Abiodun while presenting the 2022 Budget Proposal tagged " Budget of Restoration” submitted that the state had designed and implemented several multi-faceted initiatives to enhance healthcare delivery with the Primary Health Care (PHC) at the heart of the system, while the secondary and tertiary health institutions would provide higher level of care and referral for optimal health care delivery, noting that individual prosperity could only be achieved with a healthy citizenry.
The Governor, who stated that his administration had embarked on massive provision of facilities across the State to ensure that they discharge their assigned roles with greater effectiveness and efficiency, revealed that no fewer than 100 PHCs had been rebuilt, renovated and equipped in line with the World Health Organisation standard, saying the target of his government was to have at least a functional PHC in each of the 236 wards across the State.
