ABIODUN BAGS EXCELLENCE SECURITY AWARD

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has been awarded with the Excellence Security Award by the National Association of Online Security Reporters (NAOSRE), for his contribution to employment generation through the Ogun Youth Employment Scheme (OGYES).

The Public Relations Officer of the Association, Isidahomhen Idumonza who made this known during the conferment of the award on the Governor at the Governor's office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the group was formed to fill a vacuum in the security architecture of the country.

Idumonza disclosed that Governor Abiodun was considered for his role at ensuring that youths in the State are gainfully employed and productive, to prevent them from being ushered into the world of crime.

’’The Ogun Youth Employment Scheme of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government is an example of how youths can be led out of being recruited into the world of crime. Apart from solving some economic problems, the scheme is also solving the problem of insecurity. We decided to honour him so that he can do more", he said.

Responding, Governor Abiodun said the award would spur him to do more towards achieving a prosperous State, noting that his administration priotised security, by revamping the Security Trust Fund, provided security equipment and support for security agencies.

Represented by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Waheed Odusile, who received the award on behalf of the Governor said the Ogun Youth Employment Scheme is one of several interventions of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government to engage youths positively.

"When the environment is peaceful, capital knows no boundary, capital will go to where it can thrive, so, investors will go to where their money can multiply, that is why we placed much premium on security’’, he said.

The Governor explained that OGYES was designed to bring in 250 youths from the 20 Local Government Areas of the State, amounting to 5000 youths benefitting from the programme with payment of stipend and necessary support to set up their businesses.

He used the occasion to charge journalists to take the issues of ethics very seriously, adding that they should leave above board and shun activities that would spoil their names.
