2022 PROPOSED BUDGET: OGUN MINISTRY TO EXPEND N274M

 


          The Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape has revealed that his agency will spend a total amount of N274,036,677.62 on the proposed budget in the next fiscal year, for the implementation of its programmes and activities.


          Afuape made this known while defending the budget before the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the amount was budgeted by the Ministry, being part of the State government’s budget proposal as contained in its 2022 Budget of Restoration.


          The Commissioner expatiated that the sum of N131,667,193.81, which was 48.05 per cent would be expended on personnel cost, while the sum of N47,922,379.84, which was 17.49 per cent would cover overhead cost, explaining that the remaining 34.47 per cent would be for the capital cost amounting to N94,447,103.97.


          According to the Commissioner, the revised estimates of personnel, overhead and capital cost percentages were 51.75, 24.02 and 24.23 per cents, saying the objective of the budget was to monitor projects across the 20 Local Government Areas, improve capacity of Local Government personnel and the Ministry officials for efficient service delivery, as well as improve welfare of the traditional rulers to bring up the dignity befitting their status.


          In his remark, the Chairman, Finance and Appropriation Committee, Hon. Olakunle Sobukanla and his counterpart in the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Bolanle Ajayi, commended the effort of the Ministry, advising it to adjust the proposed estimates on fueling to reflect the projections of the Federal Government on the likely increment of petroleum pump price in the coming year.
