STEP UP INTELLIGENCE TO RID ABEOKUTA OF CRIMES, OGHA TASKS SECURITY AGENCIES

Worried by the recent rising spate of crimes and criminality in some parts of Abeokuta metropolis, especially communities in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo has enjoined the members of the communities to join hands with security agencies in the State through exchange of intelligence and information to rid the areas of criminal elements

Oluomo, who charged the security formations in the State to rise to the task by stemming the tide of cult-related killings, armed robbery and illegal activities of street urchins popularly called area boys, noted that their activities had continued to throw residents into palpable fear, thereby affecting the socio-economic activities in the communities.

He disclosed this while responding to the submission of a member representing Abeokuta South II State Constituency, Adeyemi Ademuyiwa, who spoke under Personal Explanation on the various attacks and terror being unleashed on the people by criminals, who bore arms and ammunitions with impunity in some areas within his constituency.

The Speaker enjoined the people to ensure sustained synergy with security operatives and offer credible and timely information to them towards aiding their operational strategies to checkmate the activities of the criminals.

He tasked the Community Development Councils and Associations to liaise with members of the vigilante in their respective communities towards ensuring increasing monitoring and patrol of the entire constituency.

Earlier in his submission, Ademuyiwa had lamented the unlawful act of the criminality being perpetrated with impunity by armed robbers, cultists and street urchins in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, who often forced many road users and traders to shut down their businesses, calling for improved security with a view to protecting lives and property.
