Ogun State Government has expressed displeasure at various attacks on school teachers in the State, soliciting for the support of the Organised Labour to put an end to the ugly trend.
The Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro made this known in his office at Oke-mosan, during a courtesy visit by the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Ogun State Council, with a call on them to work together with the present administration to stop the brutalities against teachers in the State.
Dr. Aigoro pleaded with the Organised Labour to be closer to his office, have regular consultations in order to come up with solutions to some collective problems being faced in Ogun State, assuring them that Government was looking into the germane issues bothering on welfare of the workers with the aim of putting smiles on their faces.
"Government is not happy with the attacks on teachers in our schools, the brutality must stop. Also, I am aware of the issues of workers' welfare raised, all these are being addressed. We should work together, break the jinx of not meeting regularly. I plead with you to be closer to my office for regular consultations and proffer solutions to the problems" he said.
Speaking earlier, Comrade Akeem Lasisi, TUC and Comrade Isa Olude, NJC congratulated the Head of Service for the appointment, appreciating Government for paying the best minimum wage among States in Nigeria, saying that there would be industrial peace, with a plea that all the issues agitating the minds of the workers be looked by the government.
In a related development, the Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro has charged workers, as the engine room of Government to be more productive and continue to contribute to the economy of the State.
Dr. Aigoro stated this when the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Ogun State branches visited his office to felicitate him on his appointment as the new Head of Service.
He expressed his happiness to work with them, as the present Government led by Prince Dapo Abiodun would continue to do its best for the citizens of the State.
While speaking on behalf of the CIBN, Dr. Segun Oshadare said that the group was ready to partner the Government in the area of staff training on ICT, and to contribute to the growth of the State through various financial interventions for workers.
On her part, Dr. (Mrs.) Deborah Osisanwo on behalf of the NMA, said that the health sector needs more manpower, as they are overwhelmed, promising to work with the new HoS to have a better health sector in the State.
