OGUN COMMISSIONER HARPS ON PPP FOR DEVT.

 


          Indigenes of Ogun State at home and in diaspora, investors and captains of industries have been admonished to harness the benefits inherent in Public Private Partnership (PPP) of the tourism sector, to support the ongoing development and transformation in the State.


          Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo gave this admonition in Iperu Remo, at the 2021 Akesan Day celebration, saying the government is poised towards preserving and developing its tourist sites, monuments and heritage.


          Taiwo urged the people to take advantage of the peaceful co-existence, serene environment and hospitality of the State, which are vital requirement for tourism to thrive in any society, stressing the need to leverage on the PPP policy of the present administration to develop their towns, cities and the tourism sector for improved economy.


          "One of the enviable virtues and attributes, which I would like to implore many warring and unsettled communities of the world to imbibe from the people of Iperu is the concept of ‘Omoluabi’, and the peaceful co-existence despite the presence of different religious and ethnic groups in the town. These virtues are vital requirement for tourism to continue to thrive in a town and State as a whole.


          “There is no doubt that the town with its diverse limitless potentials, such as the ‘Eyo Groove’ will make Iperu and Ogun State a preferred tourism destination of choice, and this should be our collective yearning and responsibility", Taiwo emphasised.


          Speaking in an interview with OGIS correspondent, Consultant to the Governor on Media, Mr. Ifekayode Akinbode, commended the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration for its unbiased and equitable development and even distribution of resources across the three Senatorial Districts of the State, adding that the celebration would go a long way in boosting the economy drive of the people, the tourism sector and the State.


           In her contribution, an indigene of the town, Mrs. Bunmi Ogungbesan said the festival unites and bonds all sons and daughters of Iperuland, both at home and in diaspora, encouraging them to continue to project the rich cultural heritage of the community to the world.


          Highlights of the celebration was the commissioning of the Primary Healthcare Centre, payments of 100 students’ General Certificate Examination fees, monetary donations for the development of community projects by Iperu Descendants Association, United Kingdom, among others.
