Ogun State Government has warned truck drivers against indiscriminate parking on all roads across the State, in order to ease vehicular movement.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Babatunde Adesina gave this warning, while speaking on a radio programme in Abeokuta, saying the menace of indiscriminate parking has continued to cause havoc on the road.
"We will no longer look away on truck drivers parking on our roads indiscriminately because this act causes traffic build up on the road. The road is not designed for parking haphazardly, but for free flow of vehicles and to reduce time spent on the road”, he said.
Adesina noted that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration, has been constructing and rehabilitating roads across the three Senatorial Districts of the State, adding that they would be completed in due time.
He stressed that the government would not rest on its oars, in delivering its infrastructural drive, towards improving the socio-economic growth of the State, saying the Local governments would also take up construction of some roads in their various domain, to support the present administration and improve the livelihood of people at the grassroot.
“I want to appeal to our people to be patient with the government, as we cannot construct all roads at the same time. Funds are being spent on health, education, agriculture, housing and many more. Some roads are on the drawing board which is called preliminary stage and these will be in the know very soon”, Adesina stated.
