INDISCIPLINE: OGSG NOW TO SEND ERRING STUDENTS TO JUVENILE HOME.

The Ogun State Government has stated that any student culpable of criminal and unlawful acts risk being sent to Juvenile Home to undergo character reformation.

The Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu stated this in Abeokuta during a visit to the Commissioner of Police, CP. Lanre Bankole, where he tendered apology on behalf of government to the Police Force for the unruly behaviour of some students of Egba High School and Asero High School in Abeokuta who assaulted the Divisional Police Officer of Obantoko area.

Arigbabu who described the development as appalling and unacceptable, gave a stern warning to students across the State, to desist from criminal acts, as the government would  no longer spare students notwithstanding their age, but will be made to face the full weight of the law.

"We are here to sympathise and plead with you for what has been done to one of your officers, by some unruly students. I want to stress it here, that as a State, we will not condone such acts of indiscipline. We are working together with the Police to make sure that anyone caught will be sent to the Juvenile Home for reform. We want to rid our schools of such criminal behaviours and we will not relent until we achieve this", the commissioner revealed.

He commended the collaborative efforts of the Police Force to arrest the unwanted nemesis that have been rearing its head in the schools, assuring the school management that the present administration would address all  forms of indiscipline, through surveillance and interaction with the students by the Police and government officials on good conducts.

In his response, the State Commissioner of Police, CP. Lanre Bankole, said the incident was a mutual concern of the Ministry and the Police, noting that the Police have always been proactive in their approach in restoring order in schools and the State at large.
