The Chairman, Ijebu Ode Local Government, Alhaji Babatunde Emilola-Gazal has charged the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN), Ijebu District to uphold the tenets that established the institute.
Gazal gave the charge while hosting members of ICAN, Ijebu District Society during their courtesy visit to his office in Itoro.
He said ICAN is an institution saddled with the responsibility of raising experts in the accounting profession, thus the tenets that established it should be upheld to sustain accounting professionalism in the country.
He further advised to devise means of apprehending fraudsters, especially on the internet to ensure sanity in the financial sector of the country.
Earlier, Chairman ICAN, Ijebu District Society, Mrs. Taiwo Morenikeji FCA, gave a brief history on the establishment of the Institution far back as 1948, saying it has been able to produce world class professional accountants with the technical competence both in the private and public sectors, among whom are late Chief Dipo Dina and Otunba Tope Ogunnowo.
