FEEL FREE TO APPROACH MY OFFICE FOR DISCUSSIONS, AIGORO TELLS OGUN LABOUR LEADERS

The Ogun State Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro has urged the leadership of the various labour unions in the State to always feel free to approach his office for regular meetings and consultations, necessary to address issues relating to the welfare of their members.

Aigoro made this call in Abeokuta during a courtesy visit to him by the leadership of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNC) and the State Council of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), confirming that government would leave no stone unturned to make living more abundant for workers.

The number one civil servant assured the union leaders that government was looking into the germane issues bothering on the welfare of workers, with the aim of putting smiles on their faces, appealing to them to join hands to put a stop to the brutalities against teachers.

"Government is not happy with the attacks on teachers in our schools, the brutality must stop. Also, I am aware of the issues of workers' welfare raised, all these are being addressed. We should work together, break the jinx of not meeting regularly. I plead with you to be closer to my office for regular consultations and proffer solutions to the problems", he said.

Speaking earlier, Comrade Akeem Lasisi of TUC and Comrade Isa Olude of the NJC while congratulating the Head of Service on his recent appointment, acknowledged that the State Government is paying the highest minimum wage across the country.

The duo however, pleaded that government should address issues agitating the minds of the workers, saying “industrial action does no good to both the labour force and government”.

In a related development, workers, as the engine room of government have been told to be more productive and continue to contribute to the economic development of the State.

Dr. Aigoro made this call in his office while addressing members of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in the State who came to felicitate him on his recent appointment, affirming that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration would continue to do its best for the citizens of the State.

Speaking on behalf of CIBN, Dr. Segun Oshadare said that the group was ready to collaborate with the government in the area of staff training on ICT, and contribute to the growth of the State, through various financial interventions for workers.

On her part, Dr. (Mrs.) Deborah Osisanwo on behalf of NMA, promised to cooperate with the new HoS, in order to have a more robust health sector in the State.
