COVID-19 Vaccine is free in all public and private health facilities across Ogun State, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker has declared.
Dr. Coker made this known during a sensitisation visit to Oba Titi Dada International Market, Ota in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, charging members of the public to report anyone demanding money before being vaccinated to her Ministry for appropriate disciplinary actions.
The Commissioner who commended private health practitioners in the State, for making the service free, noted that the State government had taken proactive measures, towards ensuring that no eligible resident was left out in the campaign.
According to Coker, the Ministry has been engaging tertiary institutions, private health facilities, and embarking on enlightenment visits to public spaces such as markets, religious centers, parks and garages, expressing optimism that it would surpass the two million targets.
The Health Commissioner, who acknowledged that traders were key stakeholders in the campaign, also charged them to encourage their customers and other loved ones to take the vaccine as part of measure to ensure their wellbeing, reminding them that the 60-day ultimatum issued by the present administration to sanction those who refuse to take the vaccine still stands.
In her response, the Iyaloja-General, Ado Odo-Ota, Chief (Mrs.) Adebisi Oyetoro commended the State government for taking the steps to ensure that every eligible resident benefited, promising to mobilise traders and customers on the need to get vaccinated.
