Civil Servants in Ogun State have been advised to always ascertain their health status and if necessary, take corrective steps to prevent untimely deaths.
The Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Rural Development, Mr. Olatunji Kanimodo who gave this advice during a training for workers in Abeokuta, pointed out that health is wealth and only a healthy person can make meaningful contributions to productivity and national development.
Describing the training with the theme: “Your Health in Dwindling Economy” as timely, considering the economic situation of the country, coupled with the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kanimodo underscored the importance for workers to go for regular medical checkup to know their health status.
He added that the present administration was committed to the healthcare of the people, particularly its workforce, urging them to make their health a priority.
In his presentation, Dr. Festus Adetonwa from the State Ministry of Health, said that the complete state of physical, mental and social wellbeing of an individual does not mean the absence of diseases or sicknesses, advising them not to wait until the situation gets out of hand before visiting the hospital.
He charged the staffers to engage in regular physical exercise, in order to enhance their body fitness and always let the management know about their health conditions, urging them to visit the hospital at least once in a year for medical checkup.
