The Ogun State Government has implored its workforce to show more understanding and be optimistic that the present economic downturn would soon be a thing of the past, just as the 20 Local Government Areas in the State received N3.4billon Federal Allocation fund.

    Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape said this in Abeokuta, at the November 2021 Joint Accounts Allocation Meeting, urging workers to see the four months deduction paid by the government as a demonstration of commitment to the State workforce.

       Afuape stated that the present administration has great interest in the workforce and would continue to see to their welfare, pointing out that “the welfare of workers is paramount to the administration and would not relent in its efforts to see that things get better”.

   Presenting the October 2021 Federal Government Allocation at the meeting, the Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary, State Treasury Office, Mr. Michael Idowu said a total of N3,418,726,252.32 was the summary of allocations, while the first line charges totaled N3,999,489,671.86 was disbursed to the 20 Local Governments.

       In their responses, the Chairmen, Nigerian Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE) and Nigerian Union of Teachers, Comrades Ayuba Olatunji and Akinola Abiodun respectively appreciated the Governor for the four months deduction payment to the State workers, Local Government staff and pension to retirees, adding that the gesture was an assurance that the government has not forgotten its workforce.
