Prompt payment of approved taxes, rates and levies will enable government to provide necessary infrastructure and social amenities for good use of the citizens.
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun said this while presenting Staff of Office to the new Olu of Ilupeju Oke-Odo, Oba Saheed Agbaje in Abeokuta North Local Government Area, noting that the new monarch needs to mobilise his subjects to support the present administration in his ‘Building our Future Together’ agenda.
The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, called on the new Monarch to drive a united and cooperative agenda that would carry his subjects along in the traditional administration of his community.
“As an Oba, you are expected to be accessible, receptive and responsive to the yearnings of your subjects at all times, drive a united and cooperative agenda that will involve your subjects in the traditional administration of your community”, he said.
He enjoined all sons and daughters of Ilupeju Oke-Odo to cooperate with the new Monarch in the task of making the town greater and a pacesetter for other communities.
In his welcome address, Chairman, in the Local Government, Hon. Salami Ayorinde, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ayoola Oluajo, urged the Monarch not to relent in his continual efforts at making town an enviable community.
In his remarks, Agura of Gbagura, Oba Saburee Bakre expressed joy over the turn-out at the event, calling for the collaboration among the chiefs and people of the community for peaceful co-existence in the area.
Giving his acceptance speech, Oba Agbaje appreciated the Governor for prompt endorsement of his candidature as the new Olu of Oke-Odo, saying the support of sons and daughters of the town would take the community to a greater height with laudable projects that would attract investors.
