The Ogun State Government has commended winners of 2021 Nigerian Institute of Physics National Quiz and Mathematical Association of Nigeria National Olympiad and Quiz Competitions for their excellent performance.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu made the commendation in Abeokuta, while receiving the primary and secondary school students who represented the State at the competitions, saying the excellent performances of the learners were reflection of the government’s commitment towards the education sector.
Prof. Arigbabu said government would continue to do all within its capacity to support and promote excellence performance, urging learners in the State to maximise the opportunity of free education by the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration to pursue their dreams,
" I really want to commend the winners for making the State proud. The excellent performance of the students is a reflection of the commitment of the government on education. For the winners, don't rest on your oars but continue to do things that will make the State retain its enviable position among its peers in the country", Arigbabu said.
He lauded the organisers of the competitions for their unrelenting efforts, describing it as a move which had produced excellent students, encouraging them to sustain the programme.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director of Education, Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Samson Ogunpola, posited that it is good to support learners to go for competitions, submitting that participation of schools at competitions would enable learners prove their worth and make them excel among their peers.
Speaking on behalf of other winners, Toluwanimi Aladegbola, Elijah Alao and Gbolahan Azeem, students of Ambassadors College, Ota, Taidob College and African Church Grammar School both in Abeokuta, respectively, appreciated the government for the opportunity to represent the State, calling on other learners to be studious.
