Nollywood can be better, if we practice what we preach - fast rising actress, Dayo Rufai



Ifedayo Rufai is a beautiful with brain Nollywood actress who is fast rising in the movie industry. In this interview with Olajide Osoba, she spoke on issues in the industry and what can make Nollywood great. 


Excerpts


Q: Can we meet you ma?


A: My name is IFEDAYO RUFAI, an actress/ movie producer and also an entrepreneur, CEO of Luvyet Resources Empire.



Q: where are you from? 


A: I'm a Lagos/Ogun state born, my Father hail from Epe in Lagos state while my mum is from ijebu ode in Ogun state


Q: How many movies have you produced? 


A: I have produced many movies like  Awofele bonu, Ado Edan, Oba Alara, Fate and Desire, wages of sin, Folashayo, Idera and so on



Which movie brought you to limelight?

Q: Why film industry? 


A: Like I said earlier, I’ve always wanted to be an actress while I was young. One day I went to see a friend of mine and I met late Ishola Durojaiye Alasari shooting a movie outside my friend’s house.


“So I grabbed the opportunity to get close to Mr Tosin Fagbemi who was also among the artistes that I met at the location.


“I got in touch with him after the location and he introduced me to Mr Olayemi Jimoh who eventually trained me as a professional actress.

Q: Why only women are making it big in the industry?  


A: I don't know about that, what I know is both men and women are making it big in the industry.


I don’t know anything about that


Q: What are you challenges so far?



A: My growing up experience opened  me up to the challenges of life (womanhood) generally so whatever challenges comes my way, I believe I’ll overcome with God’s grace.

 


Q: Have you experienced sexual harassment?  


 A: No it has never happened,  but, if being asked for a date or a relationship (which is normal as a pretty and young lady that I am) in the industry , that happens so many times and I turned it down , maybe , that's why I have been able to focus on my projects.



Q: What new  project should your fans expect  from you soon? 


A: I’m currently working on a project that’ll wow my fans soon but I’ll like not to talk about it



Q: What is happening in the industry that you don't like?


A: I love everything about my industry but I’ll love us more if we can really be what we preach.


Q: Are you saying you are not preaching the right thing?


A: I never said that just saying it’ll be better if we can really work towards being what we preach because a lot of people see us as role model.


Q: If you are not an actor what will you love to be?


A: as I said earlier, I am an entrepreneur as we speak I’m into skincare, beddings and clothing business.


Q: Who is your mentor


A: Odunlade Adekola



Q: Why do you make Odunlade your role model?


A: Infact he’s one of my role models and all my role models are male. It is not a must I have a woman as a role model role model. All that is required is to admire and respect to that person besides it’s a choice


Q: What is your advice to upcoming actresses


A: they should be  focused and be prayerful
