How banker asked armed robber to rob him of N3m belonging to his employer in Ogun

A banker at Abestone Microfinance Bank Abeokuta, Olagoke Dare, is now in Ogun State police custody for allegedly for planning with another person to rob him of cash sum of N3million belonging to his employer.

Dare was arrested after the police at Ibara division got a distress call that armed robbers had attacked the duo of Olagoke Dare and Mary Agbejo, while they were coming out of a commercial bank at Oke-ilewo area of the Ogun State capital, where they had gone to withdraw the money.

DAILY POST learnt that the DPO of Ibara division, SP Segun Ajao, immediately mobilized his men and moved to the scene, where one Idowu Tunde was said to have been arrested.

Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told newsmen on Tuesday that, “the arrested suspect, who was armed with a mock gun, informed the police during interrogation that it was Olagoke Dare who informed him that his employer will be sending him and one other person to withdraw the sum of 3 million naira, and that they should come and rob them of the money.”

According to Oyeyemi, the contracted robber revealed that “it was the same Dare Olagoke who gave him the toy pistol for the operation.”

According to the police spokesman, the suspect “confessed further that while Dare and his other colleague were in the bank, he had already hidden in their car which was deliberately left opened by Dare in accordance with their plan.

“While they got into the car, Idowu Tunde explained that he came out suddenly from the back seat and pointed the gun to the lady who was in possession of the money. But the lady noticed that the gun did not look original, consequent upon which she dragged the gun with him and raised alarm. It was the alarm that attracted people who pursued them and called the police.”

Be added that the Acting Commissioner of Police in Ogun, DCP Abiodun Alamutu, had ordered that the case be transfered to state CIID for further investigation.
