The Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan has tasked the newly inaugurated State Technical Working Committee on Social Protection, to come up with probable policies that will allow government develop a holistic plan to adequately tackle poverty and uplift the vulnerable in the State.
Olabimtan, who is also the Chairman of the State Steering Committee on Social Protection, threw the challenged while inaugurating the Committee in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said its composition was the amalgamation of Ministries, Agencies and Departments of government involved in social protection, with the aim to protect the vulnerable.
The Commissioner noted that the State government was determined to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, through a comprehensive framework and mapping out landscape for financing sustainable development with strategy, to implement targeted policies and reforms in line with the Committee’s term of reference.
"The Committee is expected to provide a cohesive and coherent policy that will address the challenges of the poor, towards uplifting their living standard. I want to charge you to be more proactive while discharging your duties’’, he said.
On her part, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, who doubles as the Chairman of the Committee, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Dada said they would work assiduously towards realising government’s commitment to the plight of the down trodden in the society.
