Ben Alaiya, a one-time Press Officer for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, has passed on.
Alaiya, until his death, was the Editor-in-Chief of SportsDay Newspapers.
According to POLITICS NIGERIA, the sports journalist died in his village in Benin, Edo State, South-south Nigeria.
The cause of his death, or when he died is still unclear as of the time of publishing this report.
Reacting to Alaiya’s death, Aloy Chukwuemeka, the Director of Football, Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS), Ilorin, wrote on his known Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon: “Shocking and painful. May his soul Rest In Peace.”
A Sports Writer, Arabi Rotimi also mourned Alaiya via his Facebook. Rotimi wrote: “Sad to believe that a senior colleague (Former sports editor of Daily independent, Former media officer of Super Eagles, an executive management team of Sportsday newspaper Ben Alaiya is no more. Rip Ever smiling boss.”
Born in Ososo, Edo State on December 9, 1968, Ben Alaiya was a graduate of English Language from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), and also earned a postgraduate diploma in Mass Communication from the Nigeria Institute of Journalism (NIJ).
