Ajogun retires as Ogun Commissioner of Police

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun has retired from the Nigeria Police Force.

Ajogun was redeployed to Ogun following the retirement of Kenneth Ebrimson on July 22, 2020.

The University of Ibadan graduate joined the NPF as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1988, and he has reportedly worked in various capacities across the nation.

Ajogun had disengaged from the NPF upon his attainment of 60 years birthday.

The State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has described Ajogun as an outstanding performer.

While commending the officer, Gov Abiodun said his “competence, diligence and honesty has contributed greatly to today’s positive results.

Following his disengagement on Friday, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ogun State, organised an event in honour of the retired CP.

At the event on Saturday, the Chairman of Ogun PCRC, Kunle Popoola, described Ajogun as a gallant police officer, who he said had made indelible impacts in the police profession.

At the event held at the Valley View Auditorium, Government House, Isale Igbein, Abeokuta, Popoola said, “CP Ajogun is a gallant Police Officer with impeccable and intimidating records. That’s the reason we are honouring and celebrating him. His reign in the state changed so many things, and had fast-tracked positive developments”

For the first time in so many years, we have the opportunity of celebrating somebody who has done so well for us in the security architecture here in Ogun State.”

Meanwhile, DCP Abiodun Alamutu is currently standing in as the Acting Commissioner of Police in Ogun, pending the announcement of a substantive CP by the force headquarters.
