The Ogun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde has assured sports lovers that the recently introduced Mind Sport festival will not be a one-off event but be incorporated in the yearly activities of his Ministry.
Dr. Kehinde made this known during the maiden edition of the game which commenced in Ijebu-Ode Local Government secretariat with participants taking part in games, such as Ayo, Chess and Draught.
The Commissioner explained that winners would compete at the finals in Abeokuta, where the overall winner would have the opportunity to represent the State at sporting events in the country, saying the festival would also be held in the remaining 19 Local Government Areas.
Kehinde, who expressed appreciation for the turnout, lauded the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his support, explaining that the initiative was to identify with people at the grassroots.
After a keenly contested game, Ezekiel Oludipe and Abosede Ettu came first in the male and female categories of the Ayo game respectively, Omololu Ogunleye came first in chess, while Femi Taiwo emerged the winner in the draught game.
The event had in attendance the Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Emilola Gazal, Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Mrs. Peju Shote, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Engr. Olayiwola Abiodun and other dignitaries.
