The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has described traditional institution as one of the most respected that his administration would continue to give necessary attention to, for the advancement of the State and betterment of the people.
Governor Abiodun made this known while presenting Staff of Office to the new Olu of Afowowa Sogbade, Oba Umar Hamsat, in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the State, noting his administration is determined to ensure the institution was properly positioned as they are the bridge between government and the people.
Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape reiterated government’s commitment to develop every sector, saying "we are counting on the continuous cooperation and support of our people, towards the fulfillment of our mantra".
The Governor urged the new Monarch to see his new position as a call to duty, charging him to join hands with the other royal fathers, so as to contribute positively to the promotion of the State and culture.
In his address, the Chairman, Ewekoro Local Government, Hon. Sikiru Adesina congratulated Oba Umar Hamsat on his appointment, calling on the sons and daughters of the town to support the monarch to move the community forward for unprecedented development.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Hamsat appreciated the Governor and the people of Sogbade for giving him the opportunity to serve, saying his appointment was a divine call.
He assured that the town would embrace and accommodate business development on all fronts and remain home for all.
