The Ogun State Government will continue to collaborate with donor agencies and private organisations to foster economic growth and ensure prosperity of its people, Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo has assured.
Okubadejo, who gave the assurance at a meeting with the African Export-Import Bank (AFREXIBANK), led by its new Regional Chief Operating Officer, Anglophone West Africa, Mr. Eric Intongin, in Abeokuta, said the need to seamlessly drive partnership by the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration informed the passage of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) law and setting up of its office.
He identified the proposed agro-cargo airport, deep seaport, development of various economic clusters, special agro-processing zones, among others, as some of the government’s initiative to further entrench the State as the investors’ destination of choice in the country.
While underscoring the role of AFREXIMBANK to the overall economic growth of Africa, the Commissioner noted that Ogun State is critical to the development of Nigeria due to its location and size.
“Ogun State is very key to the objectives of AFREXIMBANK, because we are the leading manufacturing and industrial hub for Nigeria by virtue of our size. Being the center of industrialisation in Nigeria, it will mean that as we embark on all the reforms that this administration has commenced, it behooves us to look for worthy partners that will work hand in hand with us in the economic development of this State”, he added.
In her remark, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker appreciated the Bank for its contribution to the health sector, seeking for more collaboration in the overall wellbeing of the people.
On his part, the out-going Regional Chief Operating Officer of AFREXIMBANK, Mr. Abdoulaye Kone, expressed the organisation’s readiness to continue to partner the State on transport, health, among others, revealing that the Quality Assurance Centre project by the Bank would soon be ready.
