The chairman, Ijebu East local government area, Hon Wale Adedayo on Friday held an extensive meeting with the Ijebu Imusin market leaders and representatives to furthering discussion on facilitating developmental projects to the popular Ijebu Imusin market.
Ijebu Imusin market which has a good potentials for developing the economic activities in the local government area has been one of the priorities of the Wale Adedayo led administration.
The council boss analysed that being a disciple of the late sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo, his administration would not pay lips service to market development. Speaking further that all roads that lead to Ijebu Imusin market will be made motorable through out the season.
On expanding Ijebu Imusin market ,he noted that the market will not be relocated due to physical development but the local government has concluded discussion with the necessary individuals and stakeholders that are ready to contribute meaningfully to the physical development of the market, one of which is the recent voluntary donation of a piece of land to the local government authority by a prominent family in Ijebu Imusin for developing the market.
Adedayo noted that a multi-million naira project has been facilitated with the necessary authority, and will soon be cited in the heart of Ijebu Imusin market, thereby adding to the economic potentials of the market and the ancient town by extension.
Provision of street lights round the market, beefing up the security architecture of the market and its environs to hasten the all day round commercial activities were also highlighted by the chairman.
He further seeked prayers from the general public for his administration to deliver on all his campaign promises, and to be successful in all ramifications.
While fielding questions from the market leaders on street hawking during the market days within the market, Adedayo, promised to proffer lasting solution for the indecent habit in conjunction with the market leaders.
He frowned on indiscriminate erection of shops/stalls within the market premises, while he also spoke on providing alternative modern method of refuse collection within the market, the method which would also be extended to individual homes in no distant time.
Hon Wale Adedayo created awareness to the market leaders on "market-monie", a federal government programme that is targeted on empowering the market women and men respectively.
The Otun-Iyaloja of Ijebu Imusin market, Chief Mrs M.A. Banjo on behalf of market leaders, thanked the council chairman on his proposed plan of developing Ijebu Imusin market to a world class and befitting status that would make it enviable.
The entourage of the chairman in the meeting were honourable councllors representing Ijebu Imusin Ward 1 and 2, Hon Adeniyi Adenuga and Hon Bolutife Osunfisan, Alhaji K.T. Ashiru the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) of Ijebu East LG, Mr Eweje. A.O the Director of General Services and Administration (DGSA), Mr Odunfa the Director of Water and Environmental Sanitation (WES), Dr Bankole Osisanya a prominent son of Ijebu Imusin and host of others.
