The Executive Chairman, Ikenne Local Government, Ogun State, Hon. Olusegun OGUNLEYE, has congratulated Hon. Jamiu ASHIMI, the newly-elected Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the local government.

OGUNLEYE in a release from his Media Team, congratulated ASHIMI, who is the immediate past Caretaker Chairman of the party, and who was unanimously returned in the local government congress of the party, held on Saturday, at the St. Saviours Anglican Primary School, Ikenne.

The Chairman also extends his heartfelt congratulations to Alhaji Kehinde OGUNNUBI, Mr. Ademola Kazeem AWOSHIPE, and Alhaja Fausat ADEYIGA, who also got elected as Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Woman Leader, respectively, as well as other elected party officials.

He urged the party executives to justify the confidence reposed in them, and work towards sustaining the progressive ethos of the party.

"I congratulate you all on your well-deserved election into the various positions within the party. This is a demonstration of the confidence reposed in you by the entire membership of the party.

I therefore urge you to justify this confidence, by sustaining the progressive ethos of our party and also work towards sustaining the past victories, while also consolidating on the democratic gains recorded", said the Chairman.

"As I wish you a successful and remarkable tenure, I implore you to regard everyone as members of a one big united family, and uphold the all-inclusive governance approach of our dear Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo ABIODUN, MFR", the Chairman further added.

Hon. OGUNLEYE also commended the Wale OHU-led Congress Committee for a successful conduct of the exercise.

The congress held in a very peaceful and orderly manner, a twenty seven-member local government executive was elected, while three national delegates were also elected for the national convention, holding later in the year.
