Committed to ensuring sustained peace and tranquility in all parts of Ogun State, the State House of Assembly through its Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has warned one Mr. Ademola Asorota to desist from parading himself as the Oba-elect of Itele Ota in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the State.
The House Committee led by Hon. Bolanle Ajayi, issued the warning during a meeting with the representatives of Adogun Atele Family led by Chief Taoreed Liasu, Legal Counsel to Olota of Ota, Ayodeji Olaotan and Director, General Services and Administration, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Dada Oloruntoba, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on the issues concerning the stool of Onitele of Itele Ota, as part of the Assembly's quasi-judicial function.
Ajayi in company of Honourables Solomon Osho, Yusuf Adejojo, Abdulbashir Oladunjoye, Ganiyu Oyedeji, Musefiu Lamidi, Adams Isaac, Yusuf Amosun and Damilola Soneye directed all parties concerned on the Obaship issue, including the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Olota of Ota, Oba Abdulkabir Obalanlege to stop actions pending the delivery of judgment on the matter before the court.
The lawmakers admonished residents of Itele Community and the Adogun Atele Family to continue to promote peaceful co-existence in the community and shun any act that could lead to breakdown of law and order in the area.
In the same vein, the Committee summoned one Mr. Goriola Adeniyi to appear before it on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, with the 36 Baales under the Imobi Kingdom, to respond to a petition written against him by Imobi Descendants' Union over his purported claim to the Obaship stool of Imobi in Ijebu-East Local Government Area of the State.
Consequently, the Committee directed that he should stop parading himself as Oba pending the time the Assembly would find a lasting solution to the issues brought before it, warning that failure to honour the invitation would result in the issuance of an arrest warrant to all invitees.
