Corps members deployed to Ekiti State have been warned against flouting COVID-19 preventive guidelines and other safety measures.
The state coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Mary Chikezie who gave the warning said corps members found wanting would be decamped.
Chikezie, who urged them to make the most of all programmes and training to be self-reliant, spoke at the official swearing-in ceremony of the 2021 batch ‘B’ stream I corps members deployed to the state.
At the event held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Ise-Orun/Emure Ekiti, Ekiti State she also admonished them to shun all negative vices like drunkenness, gambling, cultism among others saying the Camp Court will soon be inaugurated to try erring corps members.
This court will try erring corps members and appropriate sanctions will be meted on such corps members in accordance with our Bye-Laws.
The NYSC boss who noted that their mobilisation came at a time when the whole world is faced with the new normal way of life due to COVID-19, said “it showed that together we can win the fight against this dreaded pandemic; if we all adhere strictly to the preventive protocols laid down by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in our own interest”.
She said the management in collaboration with the NCDC had put a lot in place in order to ensure the safety of all, during and after the camping exercise.
