Osun State Police Command on Tuesday, debunked reports that the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola’s aide, Abosede Oluwaseun escaped an assassination attempt.

It was reported that Oluwaseun popular known as Safety escaped assassination last weekend.

The State’s Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode clarified that the incident is a case of robbery and not related to the assassination.

Olokode in a statement on Tuesday signed by the Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Yemisi Opalola revealed that Oluwaseun reported to the police that some hoodlums trailed his wife to his house located at Dada Estate, Osogbo and snatched his Toyota Camry car with Reg. No. KRD 956 FN, ash colour 2007 model.

He also filed information to the police that the hoodlums collected his wife’s ATM card and transferred the sum of N6,000 from his bank account to his wife’s account, the statement stated.

The police boss said the police detectives and other tactical squads chased the hoodlums and recovered the said vehicle.

The hoodlums, according to the CP escaped with the front and rear plates number of the car.

“I wish to state categorically that, a discreet investigation carried out does not reveal any form of assassination as reported in the news in circulation.

The case is purely an armed robbery incident as nobody was killed. Spirited efforts of the Police in combating the fleeing criminals was acknowledged by the complaints.

“Osun State Police Command, therefore, urges the general public to disregard the news, and wishes to warn against the spread or peddling of fake and unconfirmed stories in future, as such could not only instil fear in the members of the public but also create unnecessary panic, tension and commotion in the State,” Olokode said.
