Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has restated that his government will continue to promote peaceful co-existence and not discriminate against anybody, irrespective of tribe or religious affiliation.
Abiodun who gave the assurance in Ilaro, during a peace meeting between the management of Dangote Cement Plant, Ibese, Hausa community and the indigenes of Ibese town, pointed out that adequate security for the protection of lives and property was the ultimate priority of his administration.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo, the Governor urged the indigenes of Ibese and Hausas living in the town to cohabit in unity and see one another as citizens of same country, saying, “nobody can live in isolation”.
"Let me assure you that our government will not discriminate against anybody or tribe. We are all citizens of Nigeria and we have to live together in peace and unity. Protection of lives and property is a priority of my administration and I assure you that people living in Ogun State will continue to sleep with their two eyes closed.
"The presence of Dangote Cement Plant in Ibese should be a blessing to every one of us and we should endeavour to live together in peace and tolerate one another, so that the company can continue to grow and be beneficial to all of us, especially the host communities", the Governor submitted.
On his part, the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun described the State as one of the most peaceful in the country which must be maintained by all, urging the youth across the State to always eschew violence, report any occurrence that might lead to crisis to security agencies.
Ajogun further called on the management of Dangote Cement Plant to perform its Corporate Social Responsibility effectively, in order to make living more meaningful for the people and citizens of the host communities.
