The Chairman, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon. Lateef Salami has reiterated his readiness to provide effective, accessible, affordable and qualitative healthcare services to his people.

Hon. Salami bare his mind in Ilaro, while speaking with newsmen on the forthcoming distribution of insecticidal treated mosquito nets by the State government, affirming that his administration would do the needful to ensure that all qualified residents collect the net meant to combat the spread of malaria fever.

Assuring that his government would continue to enhance access to good healthcare services, through primary healthcare centres across the council, Salami said “health is wealth, so we will do the needful to ensure that citizens and people across our Local Government area have access to good medical care, through provision of necessary medical equipment and upgrading of our health centres.

"Malaria is still a public health challenge in Nigeria. It is a serious challenge confronting the healthcare needs of women and children in our communities, especially at the grassroots. The net distribution is expected to increase awareness on the appropriate knowledge, attitude and skills in preventing malaria caused by mosquito bites. The provision of the net will further reduce child morbidity and mortality rates across our communities”, he added.

The Chairman enjoined people in the area to take advantage of the free distribution of the treated mosquito nets to protect themselves against malaria, through its effective usage, imploring them to adhere strictly to COVID-19 safety protocols to avert the spread of the virus.
