Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has enjoined people in authorities not to abuse powers vested on them, but to use every opportunity given to them to impact positively on the lives of the people.
Governor Abiodun gave the advice when he received members of the State House of Assembly, the Egba Traditional Council and Chairmen, Commissions and Statutory Boards, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo and Engr. Tokunbo Odebunmi respectively who paid him a condolence visit in his family house at Iperu, Ikenne Local Government.
Prince Abiodun who described life as transient, noted that it was imperative for those in places of authorities to be humble and engage in actions and activities that would impact positively on the lives of the people they lead.
"I want to advise that we take life easy because life is transient, death is a reminder that we are all mortal. Let us be humble in whatever position we find ourselves. There is wisdom in having power and not using it anyhow. It is always good to serve the people if we want our legacies to be remembered", he said.
Abiodun maintained that the State was blessed with intelligent people and traditional rulers who have contributed in no small measures to the continued development and sustainable peace that was being experienced in the State.
The Governor who noted that he was not prepared for the sudden demise of his father, appreciated God for a live well spent, saying that the support of the people, especially the traditional rulers, which had been massive, strengthened and gave him and his family the courage to carry on.
He thanked the people for the encomium poured on his father, adding that he lived a humble, selfless and impactful lives which had robbed off his offspring.
Speaking earlier, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oluomo noted that the deceased impacted on many lives through his profession, adding that as representatives of the people, they would emulate the virtues of Pa Emmanuel Abiodun in carrying out their work.
In his remark, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Gbadebo, lauded the governor for the steady and progressive achievements of his administration in the last two years, stating that the Governor had demonstrated the virtues inherent in the deceased and his good deeds would linger on for a long time.
Chairman, Governor's Advisory Council, Chief Olu Okuboyejo, noted that Pa Emmanuel Abiodun during his life time, contributed immensely to human development, not only in Ogun State, the country at large, calling on the Governor to be closer to his mother, particularly at this trying time in her life.
Others who visited the Governor are delegation from Ogun West Elders Forum, Arewa community, National Youth Service Corps, Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), Gospel Musicians of Nigeria, Remo Chapter, market men and women, among others.
