OGUN RESTRICTS MOVEMENT FOR LG ELECTIONS

The Ogun State Government has announced a statewide restriction of movement from 7am till 4pm on Saturday, July 24, 2021, to allow for a smooth and peaceful conduct of Local Government elections across the State.

In a statement, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Odusile, indicated that the nine-hour restriction is at the instance of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), which is conducting the Chairmanship and Councillorship elections in all the 236 wards of the 20 Local Government Areas in the State.

However, voters would be free to move to polling centers within their neighborhoods and cast votes for the candidates of their choice during the period of the restriction.

The statement further urged the electorate to be peaceful and avoid any act that could tarnish the hard-earned reputation of Ogun State as one of the most peaceful States in the country.
