*SKILL ACQUISITION: IJEBU-ODE LG EMPOWERS 2000 YOUTHS*
No fewer than 2,000 youths have successfully completed skill acquisition training programme in different vocations initiated by Necessary Measures against Poverty and Perversity (NEMAPP), aNon-Governmental Organisation, in collaboration with Ijebu-Ode Local Government.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Chairman, Transition Committee, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Engr. Olugbenga Olugbile, said the programme would impact profitably on the participants.
"Every Training session throughout this programme went beyond theoretical aspect. Everyone was allowed to practicalise what they were taught, each time they have the opportunity to do so. And this has given me a great joy and confidence that all participants are employers of labour in the making", he said.
Olugbile advised the beneficiaries to put the knowledge gained to use, so as to earn income, cater for themselves and immediate families, thereby contributing to the economic growth of the State.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Governor Advisory Council Committee, Pa Oluneye Okuboyejo, said the training would be fruitful, when participants utilise the skills properly, to make them financially independent.
He commended Engr. Olugbenga Olugbile-led administration in Ijebu-Ode for collaborating with NEMAPP to organise the empowerment programme, enjoining other Local Governments to emulate the gesture.
One of the beneficiaries, Miss Ore-Oluwa Adekoya, said the empowerment would avail them the opportunity to be self-employed and financially stable.
