COVID-19: OGSG RECEIVES FOOD RELIEF PACKAGES FROM CACOVID, ASSURES EVEN DISTRIBUTION.

As part of efforts to ensure adequate welfare of its citizenry, Ogun State government, in collaboration with a private sector-led Coalition Against Covid-19 (CACOVID), had distributed food relief packages to the vulnerable across 20 Local government areas of the State.

Representing the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun at the flag off ceremony for CACOVID food relief programme, held at the NYSC permanent camp, Sagamu, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr. Femi Ogunbanwo, assured that all wards in each of the Local Government areas of the State will benefit from the outreach.

Ogunbanwo noted that the gesture by the group was a path already been threaded by the State government, saying, the distribution of foods to the vulnerable in the State has lessen lockdown hardship on the people.

The representative of the Coalition, Mrs. Yetunde Ogunnowo, in her address, noted that the outreach was the third and final phase of its plan in the fight against Covid-19 in Nigeria through distribution of various food relief packages.

According to her, CACOVID, in partnership with state governments had commissioned 38 isolation centres across the 36 states in Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), while the testing capacity of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had also improved, with the donation of over 300,000 test kits and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr. Olumide Sotubo appreciated the entire private sector that formed the Coalition, for deeming it fit to give back to the less privileged in the State, adding that ‘’it is our collective responsibility and we all must join the fight to stay safe’’.
