OGUN COMMISSIONER ON ENFORCEMENT AND SENSITISATION TOUR

The Ogun State commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Funmi Efuwape went out on enforcement and sensitisation tour to Lafenwa, Kuto, Adatan, Siun and Sagamu Markets in Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Obafemi Owode, and Sagamu Local Government Areas of Ogun State to ensure compliance with the government directive on the use of facemask by the people of the State.

The commissioner warned that markets who fail to enforce the use of facemask by its members would be closed down for two months.

Efuwape who observed that the use of facemask is currently below average warned the people not to face the wrath of the law before doing the right thing, adding that the use of the mask was for  their own safety.

" We are coming back in a week time to see if our people adhere to the use of facemask, we will go round by Monday to make sure that our people adhere to the use of facemask, any market that we find not adhering to the directive of the state government will be closed, such market will be  closed for at least two months so that it will serve as a deterrent to others, we will use one market as an example," she said.

She urged market women, food and meat sellers in the various markets to cultivate the habit of covering their produce, saying this would  go a long way at ensuring that food items were well protected against droplets that were associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.

In their separate remarks, Chief (Mrs.) Olasande Oduwaye, Iya loja, Falawa market, Sagamu and also the market leader, Remo and Alhaja Iswatu Adewuyi, Iyaloja, Kuto market thanked the state government for looking after their welfare, adding that they would do everything necessary to ensure that markets across the state remains a safe place for the people of the state.
