*CATHOLIC DIOCESE IJEBU-ODE ORGANISES FREE EYE, BREAST CANCER SCREENING*
Residents of Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area were elated as they benefited from free screening of eye, breast and other routine check-ups, organised by the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode, as part of its
humanitarian service to ensure wellbeing of the people.
Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode, Most Rev. Dr. Albert Fasina in an interview with newsmen, said the exercise was organised in
commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of the Diocese, saying the church through its Health Services Unit has been giving back to the Society.
“Complementing the efforts of Government in the Health Sector has
always been the vision of the health services unit of the Diocese. We know
Government cannot do it alone, that is why we are organising a free health
screening, ranging from, free eye test and glasses, free breast cancer screening, free Cervical Cancer Screening, Free HIV/AIDs screening and
other routine checks", the Bishop stated.
Fasina emphasised that the Health Services Unit was not restricted to the Catholic faithful, adding that the free health screening was for everyone in the area.
Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Arch. Gbolade Oduwole has commended the giant strides of the Catholic Diocese for organizing the free
Eye and Breast Cancer Screening and other routine checks for the people of the area, saying that affordable health care delivery has been one of the
focal points of the current administration.
Also speaking, Director of Church and Society Department, Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode, Rev. Patrick Ngoyi, said the Diocese had so
far been able to attain her position in the society, noting that its roles through Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), Health Services
unit, Marriage and family unit, as well as the Education Unit, had also been recognized.
One of the beneficiaries of the eye screening exercise, Mr. Ayo David thanked the Catholic Diocese for organizing the Screening Exercise,
as it has helped the less privileged to benefit from the Health delivery service.
